Frequently Asked Questions

How do I contact you?

The best way for new and prospective patients to get in touch is to schedule a free intro call. Current patients will be given access to Dr. Oristano’s work phone and HIPAA compatible texting service. Other inquiries are best sent via email to admin@ThornbackAcupuncture.com.

Do you accept walk-ins?

No. All patients must schedule in advance.

How long will it take for me to feel better?

This always depends on your specific case and history. The longer you have experienced your symptoms, the longer healing will take. When you come for your initial visit, Dr. Oristano will be able to provide a clearer estimate. Keep in mind that nothing is certain and the healing process is often more complicated than we want it to be - and often we see results right away!

Do you do couples or family counseling?

Dr. Oristano works with individuals age 16 and up. Thornback Acupuncture does not provide family counseling, however Dr. Oristano does see couples on a limited basis.

What are your COVID-19 Practice Policies?

Thornback Acupuncture has detailed COVID-19 polices that are subject to change with the current environment. For a detailed list of my practice policies, please click HERE and scroll down.

Do you take insurance?

Thornback Acupuncture does not take insurance, but we are able to accept HSA/FSA cards. We can also provide you with a superbill if needed. However, Thornback Acupuncture cannot guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you. Please discuss specifics with your insurance provider.

Cancellation Policy

Your time is extremely valuable, and therefore we do our best to ensure that you are seen promptly at the time of your appointment. Dr. Oristano handles all of your care from beginning to end works to ensure a reliable routine here at Thornback Acupuncture. In return, we ask that you help us maintain this level of consistency through awareness of these policies:

  • All paperwork is digital, and will be emailed to you before your initial appointment. Please make sure to complete these forms prior to the start of your session. This gives Dr. Oristano time to go over your intake form and provide the best care possible. If your forms are incomplete, you will be asked to complete them on your smart phone before Dr. Oristano is able to treat you.

  • As a courtesy to our practice and to our other patients, please notify Dr. Oristano before 6pm on the preceding business day if you need to cancel or alter your appointment in any way. Your time has been set aside specifically for you and cannot be used by other patients without sufficient notice. No-shows and cancellations past 6pm on the day before will be charged the full appointment fee. Valid emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • While we understand that life is unpredictable, patients who no-show frequently or who habitually arrive late will be dismissed from the practice. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, Dr. Oristano will be unable to treat you and will ask you to reschedule.
